Resident Jeffrey Martin told council he submitted a grant proposal months ago to renovate two tennis courts on Chester Avenue and has received no substantive feedback. President Trugart said multiple proposals for the former swim‑club site have been received; council invited proposers to present in executive session and then to the full council at 6 p.m., with planning commission members and department directors present to answer technical questions.
Public works reported the former swim‑club parcel is about 85% cleaned up: brush and much of the topsoil have been removed and two loads of debris were taken to the dump this week. Staff said some clean‑up material — topsoil — will be retained for borough park repairs but confirmed remaining debris will be removed and stored at the borough yard if not reused.
Council emphasized any redevelopment must benefit the entire community; Trugart said some past proposals were turned down because they did not meet that standard. Mr. Nichols (borough manager) and staff agreed to meet with proposers before next week’s presentations to coordinate timing and follow up on earlier proposals.
