WCML Board approves reports, outlines nominations and election schedule

The Warren County Memorial Library (WCML) Board of Trustees unanimously approved the minutes of the January 8, 2025 meeting and the board's financial and statistical reports during its March 12, 2026 meeting.
Chair Chuckie Hairston called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. and confirmed that Trustees Gail Richardson, Janet Rudasill, Lisa Jordan Ellis and Kirk Hazen were present. Director Tanika Alston reported on library operations, describing efforts to connect with local schools and saying that meal-based programs have greatly increased attendance.
The Board reviewed the director's, financial and statistical reports and expressed approval. Trustee Gail Richardson moved to approve the January 8, 2025 minutes; Trustee Janet Rudasill seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Later, Trustee Lisa Jordan Ellis moved to approve the financial and statistical reports; Trustee Kirk Hazen seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
In new business, Chair Chuckie Hairston presented a process for surveying nominations for upcoming vacant board positions including chair, vice chair and secretary; several names were put forward and the Board scheduled voting at the next meeting. The Board also announced a Warren County training session for boards on March 31 and answered members' logistical questions about participation.
Trustees set the date for officer elections on May 14; newly elected officers will take office at the July 9 meeting. With no further business, Trustee Kirk Hazen moved to adjourn, Trustee Janet Rudasill seconded, and the Board voted unanimously to adjourn.
