Town Attorney Ryan Knight told the commission that the mediation — proposed for the following day at 1:00 p.m. with mediator David Dugan, a former judge — is confidential and intended to see whether the parties can reach common ground before trial. "There's no requirement that you settle the case," Knight said, adding that participating voluntarily also reduces the risk a judge could later find the town refused mediation.
