Staff told the Parks and Recreation Commission that the Hollyfield Community Garden construction contract is scheduled for award at the next city council meeting and that construction is expected to begin by the end of May.
The presenter said the build is expected to take about 90 days from the start of construction and that the garden should open before the end of the calendar year, likely during the summer. Funding for the project was described as partial general fund with the majority coming from LA County Measure A funds. Staff said the council agenda will include the award of the construction contract at its next meeting.
Commissioners did not raise questions during the update; staff will report back following the council decision.
