Board approves 2026–27 calendar, model policies and several personnel recommendations

The England School District board approved a package of routine administrative items including model policies, the 2026–27 calendar, salary schedules and personnel recommendations.

The superintendent recommended adoption of model policy 3.27.1 and 3.27.1F, models prepared by Lucas Harder of the School Board Association; Mr. Jones moved the motion and the board approved it by voice vote (6–0).

The PPC presented the 2026–27 calendar, which includes four and a half work days at the start of the school year and two additional summer work days for teachers; the board approved the calendar by voice vote 6–0. Board members discussed scheduling of teacher work days and cautioned against scheduling immediate make‑up days after daylight‑saving transitions.

Administrators also presented the 2026–27 salary schedules with no changes from the prior year and recommended a $10,581.66 payment to Meals Co‑op for preschool services funded with federal money; the use of federal funds to offset district expenses was noted. The superintendent asked the board to approve performance targets attached to her contract and recommended Brandy Talent, the LEA director, be placed on a 240‑day contract with a restored $10,000 stipend for 2026–27.

Finally, the superintendent recommended rehiring Britney Robinson as high school principal and Tammy Bennett as elementary principal and hiring Dalton Tillman as an elementary janitor. Those personnel recommendations were presented for board approval during the meeting.

Most routine approvals were passed by voice vote with no opposition recorded.
