Delafield proclaims retirement for longtime public works foreman and confirms committee appointment

The Delafield Common Council adopted a proclamation on March 16 recognizing Public Works Foreman Paul Zelner for nearly 45 years of service to the city and wishing him well in retirement effective April 1, 2026.
Mayor Aker read a proclamation that summarized Zelner’s service: beginning as a paid‑on‑call firefighter in 1981, service in the Delafield Fire Department for 27 years, starting in public works in 1994, becoming a state‑certified groundwater and municipal water distribution operator in 1996 and being promoted to public works foreman in 2002. The council approved the proclamation by voice vote.
The council also accepted the resignation of Elizabeth Lloyd Weiss from the citizen member position on the public works committee (term to expire April 28) and appointed Jeremy Craraven to fill the vacancy (term to expire April 2028). Council members welcomed Craraven’s return and thanked Weiss for her service.
