Carson approves funding agreements to kick off East Carson Corridor façade improvement program

Economic development staff described a two‑track program: a traditional citywide matching grant and a targeted East Carson Corridor effort where the city covers the full grant to improve financial feasibility. Projects range from modest storefront upgrades (~$12,000 projects with city support) to larger full‑facade transformations ($50,000–$140,000). Staff described targeted investments along East Carson from Harborview Avenue to Santa Fe Avenue and identified specific corridors and businesses expected to benefit.
Council moved and authorized the city manager to execute the funding agreements in a form acceptable to the city attorney. Staff said the program is intended to leverage city dollars to catalyze private investment, improve lighting and safety, support small businesses and promote corridor‑level revitalization.
