The Valley View CUSD 365U Board of Education approved several personnel and administrative actions at its March 23 meeting.
What passed: The board approved a consent agenda of seven items (minutes, Executive Session minutes, travel requests, IHSA membership renewal, gifts and student activity contracts) by unanimous roll call. The administration’s consolidated personnel report (Action 10.1) was approved; the board then voted on three personnel resolutions:
- Resolution 2620 (dismissal of an educational support personnel employee): passed by roll call; Member Pipkin recorded an abstention, other members voted yes. - Resolution 2621 (non-renewal of certified administrative personnel hired under temporary contract): passed by roll call, unanimous. - Resolution 2622 (non-renewal of a professional technical employee due to expiration of grant funding): passed by roll call, unanimous.
The board also approved Action 12.1 to submit a waiver to the Illinois State Board of Education to bank instructional minutes for 2026–27 (public hearing previously held Jan. 26); that motion passed by roll call.
Vote details (as recorded in roll-call sequences during meeting): - Consent agenda: 7–0 yes (Member Pipkin, Member Hy, Member Shrova, Member Burus, Secretary Sutherland, Vice President Campbell, President Quigley). - Action 10.1 consolidated personnel approvals: recorded roll-call votes include two members noted as "stay/abstain" and five yes votes (yes: President Quigley, Member Pipkin, Member Hy, Member Shrova, Secretary Sutherland; abstain: Member Burus and Vice President Campbell recorded as "stay"). - Resolution 2620 (dismissal): recorded as yes votes from most members with Member Pipkin abstaining. - Resolutions 2621 and 2622: recorded unanimous yes votes. - Waiver to ISBE (12.1): recorded unanimous yes votes.
Why it matters: Administration said consolidations and reorganizations of district leadership and building-level adjustments produced a net projected savings of about $735,000, achieved by condensing positions and adjusting high-school administrative roles. Board members asked for plain-language explanations of staffing changes to share with the community.
Remaining questions: The public and several board members requested clearer public explanations of where savings were realized and confirmation that net position counts decreased; administration stated the net was a decrease and provided approximate category-level savings during discussion.
Next steps: Administration said it will continue to present staffing and procurement recommendations at future meetings (the cleaning services bid recommendation and Panorama renewal were listed for April).
