Passaic County honors four local women for Women’s History Month

The Passaic County Board of County Commissioners recognized four women for leadership and public service during a Women’s History Month celebration at its March 24 meeting.
County leaders read proclamations honoring Hannah Katau for 40 years in the county clerk’s office and election work, Rosemary Trinkle Baron for civic philanthropy and workforce leadership, Sophia Komas Phillips for workforce-development work as executive director of the county One-Stop Career Center, and Maria de Pilar Rivas for longtime community and humanitarian service.
Each honoree received a formal proclamation and brief remarks. Hannah Katau thanked colleagues and family for support; Rosemary Trinkle Baron and Sophia Komas Phillips reflected on community service and family; Maria de Pilar Rivas recounted arriving in the U.S. in 1978, her work supporting immigrant communities and dedicating the recognition to her mother.
The board recessed the ceremony for a refreshment break before taking up budget and other agenda business later that evening.
