Rohnert Park to launch redesigned city website; council proclaims July "Parks Make Life Better Month"

Kevin King, who led the redesign, walked council and the public through the new site (rpcity.org), which he described as "a little lighter, a little brighter" and reorganized around three top headers: Departments, Services and Government. King said the new homepage will include a changeable banner for rotating promotions, a news feed, a city calendar and six prominent quick-action buttons for common tasks (pay my bill, report an issue, recreation, agendas, career openings and bids). He also highlighted the addition of clickable councilmember bios and a district map so residents can more easily find their elected representatives. King told the council the site was scheduled to go live the next morning at 9:00 a.m.
Council members and staff praised the simpler navigation and the user-facing quick links; several members asked about search function behavior and mobile rendering, and King demonstrated built-in translation tools.
Before the website demonstration, the council read and adopted a parks proclamation recognizing July as "Parks Make Life Better Month." Stephanie Stevens (identified in the meeting as executive director with California Parks and Recreation) and Tiara Warner (community services manager) thanked the council and praised the city's parks staff for connecting residents with outdoor recreation. "Parks truly do make life better," Stevens told the council.
The proclamation and the new website launch were delivered as part of an otherwise busy agenda that included public comment and a lengthy public hearing on a separate land-use appeal.
