Trails committee asks for maintenance schedule, encourages PV Connect reports and volunteer coordination

Committee members reviewed a trails maintenance report attached to the agenda that recorded roughly 20 hours of public-works trail work and flagged multiple overgrown segments after recent heavy rain. Members said rapid grass growth and wet ground have made some trails difficult to see and asked residents to use PV Connect to report specific overgrown locations so they can be added to the town work log.

A committee member said maintenance schedules generally coincide with post-wildflower mowing; the committee asked staff to request and share the schedule with members so volunteers can avoid duplicative reporting. The committee discussed routine items such as annual water-bar maintenance and noted some fallen trees were removed by residents before the town could act.

During public comment, resident Rita suggested county-coordinated volunteer crews could assist with maintenance. The committee cautioned that volunteer efforts are not a one-size-fits-all solution: some trails cross many private-property holders and require coordination and insurance. The chair noted the Trails Center (not the AllTrails app) has offered to organize heavier maintenance at specific sites and may handle about 0.6 miles of trail work in a single-day event in late spring or early summer.

Committee members asked staff to request the towns maintenance schedule from public works, continue using PV Connect for work requests, and to follow up about volunteer options and insurance coordination. The committee did not take formal action on maintenance beyond requesting the schedule and encouraging reporting.
