The Parks and Recreation Commission voted to approve the recommended 2025–26 all‑star coaches at its Feb. 18 meeting after staff presented submitted letters from candidates and the selection rules in the youth sports handbook.
Staff told the commission the coaches recommended have prior experience representing the city in tournament play and have complied with Southern California Municipal Athletic Foundation guidelines and the handbook’s ethics standards. Commissioners moved and seconded the approval and the motion passed with no recorded dissent.
The transcript records that one coach was the sole candidate in his division and that he could recuse himself from any vote because he was named on the agenda; staff also explained the recusal procedure on the record.
The commission’s action was limited to coach selection; no budget changes or policy amendments were adopted as part of the vote. The commission will announce the coaches publicly ahead of the all‑star draft scheduled for Monday, Feb. 23.
