At the June 12 meeting code compliance presented its May report: staff received 110 service requests, completed 280 inspections, issued 96 notices of violation and issued 25 citations totaling $14,400. Officers opened 82 new cases during the reporting period.
Staff highlighted a long-standing property violation dating to 2019 that included an unpermitted concrete pad and repeated dumping; after the owner became unresponsive, officers secured an abatement/demolition warrant, removed the concrete foundation and will bill the property owner for abatement costs. Code compliance explained unpaid abatement costs are billed back to property owners and may be placed on property tax rolls as part of the cost-recovery process.
The department also submitted an abandoned-vehicle abatement report to the county for the January–March 2025 quarter, and community-response team officers reported 43 engagements with unhoused individuals during the period and transported nine people to sobering or mental-health treatment services. Administrative staff have mailed certified letters to property owners with outstanding citations as part of the fiscal-year-end cost-recovery process.
