Walt Meyer appointed to Desert Hot Springs Public Safety Commission

Councilmember Jan Pi on June 17 appointed Walt Meyer to fill an unexpired term on the Desert Hot Springs Public Safety Commission; the council ratified the appointment by unanimous vote.
Meyer introduced himself and said he began his career in local law enforcement about 39 years ago and that he currently directs a public safety academy program at College of the Desert. He told the council he previously served as a public safety commissioner from 2014 to 2022 and said he intends to contribute institutional knowledge and to work on recruiting first responders to the region.
Councilmembers welcomed Meyer’s return to the commission and expressed appreciation for his local experience.
Meyer will serve the unexpired term through January 2027; the council’s ratification was recorded as unanimous.
