Mayor Klein suggested placing local lyrics in sidewalk inlays and invited partners such as the Curious Forge to fabricate lettering. Commissioners discussed possible locations (including Pioneer Park and band shell areas), the prospect of a musical tour paired with the city’s QR-code historical tour, and projecting footage from local Grassroots/Grass Valley Records concerts at the Nevada Theater with a post-screening panel.
The discussion was interrupted by a disturbance in the chamber. During the interruption staff and a commissioner reported that a participant was accusing another person of filming and alleging a threat; staff told the commission officers had been notified and were en route. No physical altercation was recorded on the public transcript; staff stated that officers would meet participants outside.
Commissioners also explored programming tie-ins: inviting the Nevada County Arts Council and KVMR to partner on live broadcasts or panels, encouraging the Nevada City Film Festival to highlight local music videos, and proposing Champ Gallery themes tied to local music history. The commission agreed to add a music-related theme to the agenda for the November meeting with the goal of selecting a theme that could be installed in January.
