The council moved and seconded the agreement (Council Member Fernandez moved; Council Member Fleming seconded), and a roll‑call vote recorded unanimous approval (Peterson, Fleming, Fernandez, Vice Mayor Cece, Mayor Klein).
Wright addressed the council and the public, thanked the council and recruiting team, and said she is eager to meet residents, business owners and staff after her arrival in March. Several local organizations and business leaders spoke during public comment to welcome Wright, including Diana Gamzon of the Nevada County Cannabis Alliance and Lind Scrug of the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce, who offered to collaborate on economic development and cannabis policy.
Next steps: the employment agreement takes effect as written and Wright will begin work March 2. No further council action on the agreement was taken that night.
