Nevada City approves 2026 events and flag calendar, including first Pride parade

The Nevada City Council voted unanimously on Feb. 11 to approve the 2026 special-events and flag calendar presented by Lynn of the Nevada City Chamber of Commerce.

Lynn outlined the calendar and partner responsibilities, saying the Chamber manages U.S. flags while partner groups (including the Arts Council) handle Cultural District and partner flags. Key dates announced included EarthFest on April 19 (Broad Street, 11 a.m.–3:30 p.m.), the spring sidewalk sale on May 9, the Long Table awards dinner on May 16 (5:30–9:00 p.m.), Pride Flag Rising on June 1 and the city’s first Pride Parade on June 6 (evening parade, 6–7 p.m.).

Other annual events confirmed included Fourth of July festivities on July 4, Hot Summer Nights (three Wednesdays in July), the fall sidewalk sale, Constitution Weekend in September (concerts, living-history reenactments, parade), Halloween Spooktacular in the retail district, and Victorian Christmas in December. Lynn told council the city saw roughly 55,600 attendees at last year’s Victorian Christmas, noting weather and a power outage reduced the count.

Councilmembers praised the chamber’s coordination and local-focused additions such as a 'Hometown Christmas' pre-Victorian event to keep one evening geared toward locals. After no public comment, Councilmember Danielle moved to approve and the roll-call vote was unanimous: Peterson, Fleming, Fernandez, Vice Mayor Cece and Mayor Klein all voted yes.

The calendar approval will allow staff and partner groups to finalize street closures, vendor permits and safety planning for the announced dates.
