Mid Valley Disposal representatives presented the company’s 2025 annual report to the Atwater City Council on Feb. 23, highlighting outreach, audits and two large community cleanup events.
Marissa Corraljo, Mid Valley recycling program specialist, said the company conducted 328 site visits last year and distributed about 21,000 educational flyers. She described community events that included the Fourth of July parade, National Night Out and cooperative work with the Atwater Elementary School District on SB 1383–related education.
Corraljo presented route-audit results showing contamination rates that Mid Valley measures by lid-flipping audits: of 527 trash containers audited, 64 were contaminated (12%); of roughly 499 recycling containers audited, 25 were contaminated (about 5%); and of 457 organic containers audited, eight were contaminated (1%). Mid Valley staff said those figures represent improvements and stressed continued outreach and ‘‘good job’’ tagging for residents.
Operations staff detailed the combined spring and fall cleanup totals: large tonnages of trash and recyclables, 191 tires, about 95 cars processed across both events, and specific weights given on slides for trash, organics, e‑waste and metal. Staff also described operational changes made when the cleanup site moved from Castle Air Force Base to the Atwater swap meet to improve flow.
The company recognized Carneiel Certo (owner representation by Adriana Ruava of Gel Cerito) as Atwater’s 2025 recycler of the year for compliance with SB 1383 and leadership in the community.
Council asked about cleanup dates and praised the company’s drivers; Mid Valley confirmed the spring cleanup date as March 21 and offered continued outreach to the city.
