San Dimas council unanimously names skate park after Deputy David L. Campbell

The San Dimas City Council on March 25 approved Resolution 2025-16 to name the city skate park for former Los Angeles County Deputy David L. Campbell.
Council members said Deputy Campbell championed the skate park’s creation and provided ongoing mentorship to youth. One council member said the park “has supported so many youth” and called naming the amenity after Campbell fitting given his long-term community engagement.
The motion passed unanimously, with the council also appropriating $1,000 for a dedication plaque and directing staff to coordinate the plaque design with the Campbell family and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Council members asked staff to plan a commemorative dedication ceremony and invite the sheriff and county supervisor.
Dave Campbell Jr., speaking for the family, said, “On behalf of my family, we are deeply honored that the city is recognizing my father for his dedication and contributions to this wonderful city.” A representative from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department thanked the council for the honor and described Campbell’s work mentoring children and supporting neighborhood safety.
Outcome: Resolution 2025-16 approved (motion carried 5-0); family and LASD will be involved in plaque design and a dedication event.
