San Dimas council approves $916,283 in golf-course capital projects funded by American Golf

The San Dimas City Council voted unanimously to approve 10 capital improvement projects at the San Dimas Golf Course totaling $916,283.

City staff told the council the projects were recommended by the Golf Course Advisory Committee and would be paid entirely from a green-fee improvement fund maintained under the contract with American Golf. Staff said the fund had a balance of $1,576,818 before the approvals and would retain about $660,535 after the projects.

Staff described the advisory committee’s role and the contract requirement that the committee’s annual recommendations be taken to council for approval. The presenter said some recommended projects dated to 2024 and 2025 and that the city is in the process of restating the contract with American Golf to increase accountability and modernize terms.

Councilmembers praised the committee’s review process and the benefit of reinvesting green-fee revenues in the facility, noting the course serves both residents and non-residents and supports non-golf uses such as ceremonies and dining. No councilmember identified expenditures they opposed.

A councilmember moved to approve consent item number 3 and the council adopted the motion by voice vote, recorded as 5–0 in favor. The action was treated as a consent-calendar approval; no separate amendments or contingencies were recorded.

The council did not specify a timeline for completing each project in the presentation. Staff indicated the fund is composed of monthly deposits equal to 10% of green fees as provided under the American Golf contract.
