San Dimas welcomes new sheriff's station captain

Captain Michael (Mike) Moen, newly assigned to the San Dimas Sheriff's Station, introduced himself to the San Dimas City Council and audience at the Aug. 22 meeting.
"My name is Captain Michael Moen. I just got here from Temple Station," Moen said, adding that he grew up in the area and is "looking forward to working with the council and staff" and attending community events.
Council members welcomed the new captain and highlighted his experience. Councilmember Weber said the promotion followed an arduous process and pledged support as Moen steps into the role. Another councilmember noted Moen's patrol and managerial background and said those qualifications will help as the city prepares for the opening of a nearby A Line station.
The mayor and council also thanked Lieutenant Louis Serrano for serving in interim command until the new captain's appointment. Councilmembers reiterated that public safety remains a priority and encouraged residents to use the MySanDimas app to report concerns such as encampments.
No formal action was required; the introduction was part of the meeting's opening remarks.
