The La Habra Heights City Council approved several administrative items at its Sept. 8 meeting, including a Proposition A fund exchange with the city of Hawaiian Gardens, a committee reappointment, and the city's annually required publicly available pay schedule.
Assistant city staff explained that the city receives Prop A transit funds it cannot use directly; Metro allows jurisdictions to exchange that money with other cities. Hawaiian Gardens agreed to buy $80,000 of La Habra Heights' Prop A funds in exchange for $60,000 in general-fund money (75 cents on the dollar); council approved the exchange and authorized the city manager to execute the agreement.
Council also approved staff's recommendation to reappoint Katherine Howen to the Puente Hills Habitat Preservation Authority Citizens Technical Advisory Committee for another four-year term. Howen was not present but staff noted her ongoing engagement with habitat, vector-control and firewatch committees.
Finally, the council adopted the city's publicly available pay schedule and the related resolution required by CalPERS as an annual compliance item.
Several consent-calendar items were handled at once; item 15 was pulled for discussion and cleared after staff clarified the difference between building-code amendments and state map adoption.
