Council took the appointment as a consented, procedural item after the city manager described an ongoing recruitment for a permanent public works director. The manager said an executive recruiter engaged in mid‑2025 had yielded more than 100 applications, about 22 screened candidates and 10 interview invitations but that a permanent selection had not been made.
The appointment fills a gap caused by limits on hours a retired annuitant may work in a fiscal year, a condition that led the previous interim director to conclude his assignment.
The resolution was adopted as a single recorded motion; no separate roll-call vote details beyond the 5-0 tally were given in the meeting record. The council moved on to a study session on development impact fees following the motion.
