Council approves switch to FirstDue software for brush-clearance and fire-prevention data

La Habra Heights will replace its current 3DI brush-clearance software with Local Media Inc. BA FirstDue after council authorization at the Sept. 8 meeting.
Staff said FirstDue offers a broader suite of features that will let crews access hydrant locations, meter and gate information, and other operational data on response calls in addition to brush-clearance tracking. They also said FirstDue costs less than the city's current vendor and allows more efficient data extraction for reports and inspections.
"One of the benefits with FirstDue is it allows for a more robust component to it," staff told council, describing advantages for both prevention and operations. Council moved and unanimously approved the recommendation to authorize the city manager to enter an agreement with FirstDue and to end the 3DI agreement at renewal.
The city will transition data and pursue implementation planning with the vendor to support inspections, prevention workflows and on-scene access for response personnel.
