Peninsula multi-jurisdiction hazard mitigation plan moving toward council and FEMA review

Mayor Paul Seo described a multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan developed in cooperation with the peninsula cities and consultants to identify risks (droughts, floods, earthquakes, landslides, fires) and propose mitigation measures. He said the plan contains more than 105 recommended mitigation actions and will be presented to the city council and routed to state and federal agencies for approval and grant eligibility.
Seo said the regional collaboration allowed the cities to share technical work and public input. He explained that adopting the plan is a required step to pursue certain hazard grant funding and noted the city’s engagement in the process.
The mayor encouraged the public to participate in review steps as the plan advances to the city council and then to state and federal reviewers such as the governor’s office and FEMA.
