Compton staff warns permit-parking enforcement begins Jan. 1 after low sign-up rate

Tony Ward, director of Municipal Community Improvement, updated the council on the city's permit-parking rollout for the Richland Farms area and urged residents to complete applications before enforcement begins.
Ward said staff personally delivered more than 400 flyers, held a town hall in September and began accepting applications in October; as of the Dec. 2 meeting, staff had processed only 31 permit applications. He warned that enforcement is scheduled to begin Jan. 1 and encouraged residents to apply online under the business-license tab or visit the business-license office in person. Ward said staff had already replaced signage needed for enforcement and that the low application rate meant many households risk citations when enforcement begins unless they complete the process.
