The Planning Commission recommended City Council approve a tentative subdivision map for the Zalanta 2 resort at the village on Feb. 19, enabling the conversion of previously-approved Phase 2 drawings into condominium-hotel units for financing and sale.
Planning Manager John Hitchcock said the Phase 2 project was previously approved by the commission and includes 60 condo-hotel units with underground parking; the proposed density (roughly 37 units per acre) is within tourist-core limits. Staff noted TRPA approvals remain required before construction.
An applicant representative said new ownership purchased the Phase 2 parcels and intends to proceed this construction season; the representative said approval of a tentative map is often required to obtain construction financing. Commissioners recommended council approval of the tentative map; the motion passed.
