The Greenville ISD board voted to cancel the May 2, 2026 election for trustee races in Districts 2 and 3 because each race had only one candidate filed. Under Texas election code, races with no opposed candidates may be cancelled and the sole filers certified.
Staff told the board Angie Taylor was the sole filer for District 2 and Mandy Stewart was the sole filer for District 3; the board voted to cancel the contested election for those races and certify both candidates as duly elected. The motion was recorded in the minutes and passed by a unanimous voice vote.
The board also approved the official notice of election for May 2, 2026, including publication, polling locations and early voting arrangements; staff clarified early voting will be held at the Hunt County Voter Administration office downtown and that District 4 precincts will vote at Fletcher Warren Civic Center on election day.
The board’s actions will be reflected in the posted order of cancellation and certification and in public election notices.
