Lebanon Police introduce 'Mighty Milo,' explosives and firearms detection dog

Chief Mitchell introduced 'Mighty Milo' at the March 24 council meeting as the Lebanon Police Department’s newest explosives and firearms detection canine. Officer Jeff Carter, identified as Milo’s dedicated handler, was introduced and staff said the dog completed an intensive four‑week handlers course at Shallow Creek Kennels in Pennsylvania and is certified through the North American Police Work Dog Association.
Staff said Milo can detect 13 distinctive explosive odors, will support patrol operations, special events and school safety initiatives, and will participate in pre‑screening for large events. The Chief and council thanked Denise Dooley and the Sergeant Brian Dooley Memorial for sponsoring Milo and covering acquisition costs.
Council members noted Milo’s community role at festivals and public events and arranged photos with council and staff.
