Mayor Anthony Bassiata presented a proclamation at the start of the committee meeting designating 7 Hills Car Wash as the Seven Hills Business of the Month for March 2026. The proclamation noted the site reopened Feb. 1, 2026 after the purchase of the former Velvet Touch car wash in October 2025 and a renovation that modernized the facility.
Pete Gransson, identified in the proclamation as the owner, accepted the recognition and told the council he and his family live in Braxville and that he bought the Velvet Touch site and completed the winter renovation with assistance from city staff. “We opened up at the end of January. We haven't had any issues. Software works, equipment works, customers are happy, and I'm there all the time,” Gransson said.
The proclamation highlights the owner's local ties and the business’s history at the location for more than 35 years, and praises the car wash’s stated commitment to customer service, community support and being fully owner-operated. No formal council action was required; the mayor’s proclamation and the owner’s remarks were recorded as part of the meeting’s opening items.
The committee moved on to routine committee business following the recognition. The full council agenda later included other committee reports and an emergency agenda addition (Ordinance No. 19) related to an economic development agreement.
