The Leesburg City Commission on March 9, 2026, unanimously approved the consent agenda and heard that the Mount Morris House requires termite treatment that will require tenting and cost roughly $10,000, the city manager said.
The commission opened with an invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance, then recognized a string of staff milestone anniversaries. Melissa, a staff presenter, introduced honorees including Ashley Adams (five years, Police), Candy Harper (10 years, Deputy Planning & Zoning Director), Nathan Barlo (20 years, Deputy Fire Chief), Antonio Kelesz (20 years, Public Works), Rodney Hogan (25 years, Public Works maintenance supervisor), Angela Smith (25 years, Utility Billing Supervisor), Lisa Carter (20 years in police after prior library service), Al Pervvis (30 years, chief plant operator, Public Works), and Ronnie Hancock (35 years, Electric contract supervisor).
A commissioner moved and another seconded approval of the consent agenda; the meeting transcript records a roll call vote with Commissioner Connell, Commissioner Bur, Commissioner Reeseman and Mayor Barry each voting yes. The clerk announced the consent agenda passed on that roll call.
In informational reports the city manager said staff is addressing a termite infestation at the historic Mount Morris House. He said the work will require a tent and that "it's about 10 grand" to take care of it; he added that Cliff and his team have handled the immediate debrief and that staff will supply more details in a future report. The manager said he did not have further details at the meeting.
Commissioner Reeseman used his report to highlight upcoming community events, including the Leesburg Arts Festival downtown this weekend, a chamber breakfast next Thursday, a movie night at Pat Thomas on March 20, and a "Blooms and Brews" event downtown the following Saturday. Mayor Barry offered personal thanks for the recognition the city gave his family.
The meeting concluded after a motion and second to adjourn; the transcript records the motion and second but does not include a roll call for that final item.
The commission did not hold any public hearings or ordinance readings during this meeting; no members of the public spoke during the public comment period.
