"So, what we've done with this is we wanted to get to...a certain amount that we knew we were going to be paying for architectural fees. And so, that...that's $1.7 million," the presenter said. He added that the fee percentage is "6.23% of construction cost and that I felt was right in line" for a renovation-heavy project.
Board members asked questions about fee reasonableness and the presenter compared the contracted percentage to typical ranges for medium-sized renovation projects, saying the negotiated rate was favorable given anticipated renovation unknowns. Director Donna moved and Director Peterson seconded approval; the board approved the agreement by voice vote.
Next steps: design work proceeds under the contract and the district will continue monthly facilities updates with the board as the project advances.
