East Dundee honors detectives for illegal firearms recovery and swears in new officer

The Village Board of East Dundee on May 4 recognized police work that led to the recovery of two illegal, modified handguns and the charging of a juvenile, and formally swore in a recently hired officer.
Police Chief (S7) told the board that Detective Brian Maculitis worked for eight months reviewing social-media posts and obtained multiple warrants that produced a March 13, 2026 search warrant and the seizure of two illegal firearms, one fitted with a switch and two extended magazines. "It was great detective work all around," the chief said, and credited coordination with the East Dundee Fire Protection District for safely taking a juvenile into custody without dynamic entry.
The department presented Maculitis with a distinguished-service award and also recognized the fire marshal for assistance in staging the operation. The chief called the recovery a likely prevention of a shooting in the community.
The board also swore in a new officer identified in the oath as Armand/Armin Musick, who graduated from the Macon County Law Enforcement Training Center and has begun the department's field training program. The chief noted the officer located a suspect on his second day of field training and took the person into custody for an illegal firearm.
The recognition and the ceremonial swearing-in were presented during the board's regular meeting; no formal policy actions were taken related to staffing during the public session.
