The Bentonville School District board unanimously approved adopting Amplify Science as the district's new elementary science curriculum after a committee-driven selection process and classroom pilots.
Lisa St. John described the selection process: teachers piloted three candidate programs throughout the spring semester, the district used a scored rubric to evaluate materials, and the committee—which included administrators and K–4 classroom teachers—selected Amplify Science. "The winner is Amplify Science," she announced during the presentation.
District staff said they will examine areas where science content overlaps with the district's literacy curriculum from the same vendor to avoid duplicate instruction and to streamline connections between programs. Administrators also displayed a per-student cost breakdown over a five-year window during the presentation; a total district price was discussed but not read aloud in full during the meeting.
Board members praised the district's review process and approved the curriculum adoption as an action item. The adoption will proceed with implementation planning and professional development through the summer and into the 2026–27 school year.
