Commissioners expressed concern that the new procedure could be cumbersome. One commissioner said the process felt like “a whole lot of work” and suggested discussing possible revisions with City Council after the commission has had time to try the new procedure. Commissioner David Perry said the process should be straightforward if members follow the notification requirement: “If you’ve been notified, then it would be a very simple process. We see the list, then it’s a simple yes or no,” Perry said.
The motion to excuse the listed absences carried without recorded opposition. Staff noted the commission may bring suggested revisions to the ordinance to City Council in the future if members determine changes are warranted.
