FLVS Foundation outlines STEM camps and student successes; full‑time graduation rate at 97%

Beth Carter, executive director of the FLVS Foundation, updated the board on foundation programs and outreach, including a three‑year strategic plan, the establishment of regional advisory councils, and four STEM camps planned for June (Pompano Beach Library in Broward County; Patrick Space Force Base in Brevard County; and two Starbase events at the Orlando National Center for Simulation).
Carter noted recent foundation events, including an art showcase at the Orlando Science Center that displayed more than 70 student pieces and drew more than 150 students and families. She thanked FLVS staff and volunteers who supported programming and outreach.
In the CEO report that preceded the foundation presentation, trustees heard that FLVS full‑time students achieved a 97% graduation rate for the 2024–25 academic year, a figure cited from a Florida Department of Education report and described by trustees as the highest in the school’s history. Trustees and staff congratulated students named as Sunshine State Scholars and recognized science fair winners and other student achievements.
Board members praised the combination of flexible instruction and in‑person opportunities exemplified by student travel, competitions and showcases. Trustees said such programs illustrate FLVS’s statewide reach and the foundation’s role in supporting expanded student experiences.
