Hudson County adopts resolution supporting LGBTQ residents and honors advisory task force

The Hudson County Board of Commissioners on March 26 adopted Resolution 28 affirming the county's commitment to equality, dignity and non-discrimination for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer residents, and formally recognized the county's LGBTQ advisory task force.
Chairman Romano introduced the resolution and asked the board to sponsor it as a body. Michelle Dupe, who was introduced by the chair as the task-force chair, accepted a proclamation and spoke about her history in county government and the task force's one-year anniversary. "I appreciate the fact that Hudson County government is now full-fledged coming out in force in supporting the LGBTQ community," Dupe said, and she pledged the task force will provide advice that is helpful to county government and the community.
County executive representatives said the executive branch was pleased the volunteer task force remains active and committed to providing guidance. The board provided unanimous vocal support during the recorded roll call for this agenda item.
Dupe also credited Hannah Bartz (who drafted the resolution) and said the task force hopes to continue advising on measures that affect LGBTQ residents across the county. The meeting included a brief photo opportunity and recognition of the group's anniversary.
The resolution was placed on the record and will be part of the county's official actions supporting nondiscrimination and outreach to LGBTQ communities.
