Mineola board approves poll‑worker, parade permit, library lighting deal and $8,425 valve repair

Trustee Casado moved and Deputy Mayor Sartorii seconded approval for the New York Portuguese American Leadership Council to hold a Portugal Day parade on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 11 a.m. along the route on the agenda; the board voted to permit the event.
The board also authorized the village to enter into an intermunicipal agreement with Nassau County to install LED lighting at the Mineola Memorial Library and authorized the mayor to sign the agreement. The board classified the project as a Type II action under 6 NYCRR §617.5(c), which typically covers projects that require no further SEQRA review. Trustee Saloski seconded the motion, which carried.
Trustee Casado moved, and Trustee Clark seconded, approval of zone valve replacements at Village Hall by FiveStar Mechanical at a cost of $8,425; that motion carried as well.
On personnel business the board authorized posting a cashier position in the village justice court to replace an employee who had left. The job’s listed hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Deputy Mayor moved the posting; Trustee Saloski seconded and the motion carried.
Before adjourning, Deputy Mayor Arttori moved to close the work session and Trustee Clark seconded. One participant voiced opposition on the final vote but the motion carried and the meeting was closed.
