Council approves pool furniture, irrigation and a $27,000 sponsorship for Marshall Aquatic Park

Preston Sentsrud of the Parks Department outlined remaining items needed to complete the facility. He said Mattress Barn of Marshall offered a $27,000 donation/sponsorship that reduced an equipment and furniture quote from $62,480 to $35,480. Sentsrud said the vendor will hold ordered items until the city is ready for installation and that some items have long lead times.
On irrigation, staff said MTI/ Toro-designed materials total about $23,000 and Deserro Outdoor Creations provided the low installation quote of $29,587, putting the irrigation package near $53,000; those costs would be charged to the landscaping line item (budgeted at $215,000). Sentsrud said the pool's FF&E budget is $200,000 and staff expected to remain well within overall project budget depending on final landscaping choices.
Council member Craig moved to approve the purchases and installation; Amanda seconded the motion and the council approved the item. Council thanked Mattress Barn for the sponsorship and noted competitive local contractor bids for irrigation installation.
What happens next: staff will finalize orders, coordinate holding of donated materials until installation, and proceed with installation scheduling consistent with construction and operations planning for the pool.
