School board reviews multiple policy updates on first reading, recommends deletions and VSBA-aligned edits

Highlights of the first-read presentation included a recommended deletion of the Student Make-Up Work Procedures policy for secondary schools on the grounds that practices no longer require a separate board policy; a recommendation to delete the School Admissions policy because relevant requirements are covered in the Code of Virginia; and minor language updates to policies on search-and-seizure, student disciplinary due process, accident and serious illness reporting, student automobile/skateboard/bike use, and communicable blood-borne diseases. The presenter said many changes are to match current practices and VSBA model language.
