Planning commission approves minutes and accepts 2025 housing element progress report; schedules ADU public hearing

The Sierra Madre Planning Commission opened its March 19, 2026 meeting with routine business and unanimous consent votes. Commissioners approved the February 19 meeting minutes and accepted the 2025 general plan and housing element annual progress report without amendment.
Staff notified commissioners that a public hearing on Municipal Code Text Amendment MCTA26‑01 (ADU ordinance) will be held on April 16, 2026, and that staff will bring a redline back for further edits. Staff also announced outreach plans: the planning department will have a presence at the Wisteria Festival on March 28 to provide materials about ADUs, business licenses and the general plan update. Commissioners were reminded that Form 700 filings are due later in the month.
The commission adjourned after reports and scheduling notes; the next regular meeting was set for April 2, 2026.
