Pasco commissioners agree to place teacher‑salary millage renewal on November ballot

Superintendent Le asked the Pasco County Board on March 24, 2026 to place a teacher-salary millage renewal on the November 3, 2026 general-election ballot. He told commissioners the current millage, enacted years earlier, reduced teacher vacancies substantially and lowered custodial vacancies from about 80 to roughly 15 before the school year began.
"If this referendum were not to go into effect, it would result in a net cut of our teacher salary and support personnel across the board of approximately 12%," Superintendent Le said. He also said the availability of local millage funds helped the district recruit and retain educators who otherwise might teach in neighboring counties.
Commissioners moved, seconded and approved placing the renewal on the ballot by voice vote during the consent/agenda discussion. Board members praised the district's progress filling positions and underscored the connection between teacher quality and community economic competitiveness.
The superintendent and commissioners noted the renewal must be presented to voters every four years under state statute; Superintendent Le said past approval was near 60% in the district. Commissioners did not set any additional ballot language or funding specifics in the record during the session; the vote recorded here was to place the question on the ballot.
