Mansfield ISD to apply for state Teacher Incentive Allotment, officials say

Dr. Jennifer Stoker, associate superintendent of human resources, told the board brief that Mansfield ISD is not currently a TIA district but that “approximately 18 teachers have earned TIA designations while working in other districts.” She said, “The district plans to apply for participation in TIA this spring and expects to learn over the summer whether we have been selected to participate in the program.”
According to Stoker’s presentation, teacher designations under TIA are based on measures of teacher effectiveness, including classroom performance and students’ academic growth. If Mansfield ISD is selected, district leaders said the program would begin initially at a small number of campuses with the expectation of expanding participation over time.
The presentation did not specify precise funding amounts, which campuses would participate in an initial year, or any changes to teacher contracts. Officials said they expect the state to notify districts of selection decisions over the summer.
Next steps: the district will submit its application this spring and await the state’s selection notice; no board action or vote on TIA participation was recorded in the brief.
