Dorchester County zoning board re-elects chair, names Rebecca Harper vice chair

The Dorchester County Board of Zoning Appeals re-elected its incumbent chair and selected Rebecca Harper as vice chair during a brief March 25 meeting. The board also voted to adopt the February minutes before moving on to other business.
The chair opened the meeting at 6 p.m., announced a quorum and said the board would skip the typical agenda to take up minutes and officer elections. Rebecca Harper moved to adopt the minutes from the prior meeting; the motion was seconded and carried by the usual signs.
Board members proceeded to nominations for chair and vice chair. A board member moved that the incumbent continue as chair; the motion was seconded and approved unanimously. Later, a motion nominated Rebecca Harper for vice chair; Mr. Dixon seconded that nomination and the board voted unanimously to elect Harper as vice chair.
Board members noted the board has no separate nominations committee and that the chair’s term limits had been extended in the prior year. The meeting then moved on to old business and a variance application. The transcript did not record any dissenting votes during the officer elections, and the approvals were made by the usual show-of-hands method.
