Flagstaff to host Arizona America 250 traveling museum on April 6; Secretary of State Adrien Fontes expected to attend

Flagstaff will host the Arizona America 250 traveling museum on Monday, April 6, staff told commissioners, with the exhibit open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Flagstaff Visitor Center.

Meg, Global Travel Trade Manager, said the traveling museum is a large semi-truck visitors can enter to see immersive panels and a Liberty Bell display. Mother Road Brewing will bring a classic car and the state’s “Arizona logger” beer will be promoted; partner tables will include the Daughters of the American Revolution, Best Western Hotels and local attractions. “It is a free event. Send your friends and family; come down to check it out,” Meg said.

The event will also include community activities and photo opportunities, volunteers staffing tables, and a postcard box collecting public responses that will be sent on to state offices as part of the America 250 initiative. Meg confirmed Secretary of State Adrien Fontes will be present at about 2:30 p.m. for a ceremonial moment at the exhibit.

Staff emphasized volunteer and sponsor support: Best Western is an official sponsor and nonprofits and national-park partners will have tables. A blood-mobile partner will be on a nearby street to accept donations, and Mother Road Brewing will display its branded can and a classic car during the event.

The commission was asked to encourage attendance and to supply volunteers where possible; staff said additional volunteer slots remain and that the museum will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The traveling museum appearance is part of a broader America 250 schedule coordinated with state partners and local sponsors; Discover Flagstaff staff said they had coordinated press, social-media promotions and partner presence to maximize outreach.
