Burrillville School Committee approves minutes, $3.11 million warrant and $33,623 in transfers

The Burrillville School Committee on March 10 approved the minutes of its Feb. 10 regular meeting, accepted a $3,110,852 school warrant for February and approved transfers totaling $33,623 to several educational supply accounts.

The motions were made and seconded by committee members during the consent portion of the agenda. The transfers were listed as: $15,623 to ATL reading decodables, $4,000 to At Levy educational supplies, $4,000 to Steere Farm Elementary educational supplies and $10,000 to William Callahan educational supplies; the committee recorded the transfer motion and moved it forward for approval.

Committee members also advanced multiple procurement-related policies (Policy 4320, 4321 and 4325) as second revised readings; Policy 5410 (certified substitute employee) likewise moved forward on second reading. During the policy discussion a member raised questions about whether procurement language tied to child nutrition adequately protects food quality, and members noted the policies are aligned with state and federal guidelines.
