Votes at a glance: Shakopee board approves consent items, donations, apprenticeship MOU and principals' contract

The Shakopee Public Schools board approved a suite of routine and personnel actions during its March 23 meeting, including the agenda and consent items, a list of community donations, a memorandum of understanding for a teacher apprenticeship program, and principals’ contracts.

At the start of the meeting the board approved the agenda as presented and the consent items — which included personnel items, minutes, and authorization of bills and a field trip for the Young Enterprising Women National Conference — following a motion recorded as moved by Smith and seconded by Fiddick.

The donations list was approved after a motion by Brophy and second by Aldaz. Later in the meeting Director Keith Gray presented an MOU to participate in a statewide apprenticeship program (Bright Works) that would allow paraprofessionals to enter a licensure pathway and receive a $1‑per‑hour differential while in the program; the board approved the MOU. The board also approved principals’ contracts for the 2025‑27 cycle, aligning contributions with teacher settlements.

Other agenda items included a student environmental capstone presentation and a monthly budget update from finance staff. Formal motions were made and approved on record; the transcript records the motions carried but does not supply full roll‑call tallies for every vote.
