During the public-comment period Benjamin King said he was shot at outside his home and that the criminal case appears to have been closed without charges despite reporting that deputies found 15 grams of methamphetamine in the suspect’s vehicle.
King described the incident as occurring late at night at his residence on Birdie Court, said four rounds were fired at him and that a bullet remains embedded in the side of his house. He told commissioners the case record lists a disposition of “case closed,” which has left him and his family without victim services and unresolved accountability. “My family deserves justice in that situation,” King said.
Sheriff Bobby responded that the sheriff’s office and the prosecutor’s office would look into the matter; the sheriff asked to speak about the case outside the meeting. The commission did not take formal action on King’s complaint during the session.
The exchange was recorded as public comment; the commission’s docket lists no immediate investigative outcome. King told the commission he plans to return to raise the issue again until he is satisfied with the response.
The sheriff and the prosecuting attorney have the authority to review the investigative file and determine whether further charges, victim services, or evidence preservation steps are required. The commission’s role is limited to oversight and referral; it did not direct a formal inquiry at the meeting.
