Putnam County adopts $31.8 million fiscal year 2027 budget

Putnam County commissioners on March 23 adopted a balanced fiscal year 2027 budget totaling $31,842,778 in revenues and authorized the county clerk to sign the necessary documents.

The request to adopt the budget came from Tim Hannah, who presented the commission with the finalized figures and noted the document reflected work completed during recent budget work sessions. "I have a balanced budget for you guys to review," Hannah told the commission, adding the clerk needed authority to sign to complete adoption.

The approval followed brief discussion and an exchange of appreciation from commissioners for staff work on the budget. The motion to adopt passed on a unanimous voice vote.

The commission also approved a minor planning budget revision—reducing capital outlay by $400 and increasing advertising by $400—and a set of payment orders tied to ongoing projects and funds. Those included $796.20 from the building fund to Silling Associates for construction administration on a generator replacement project; $134,000 from the coal severance fund to a bond revenue account toward Waterworks bond payments; $1,820 from the opioid fund for Putnam County beds at Recovery Point; $1,799.75 from the dog fund for spay/neuter services; and a TIFF fund payment of $534,864.52 to the trustee for TIFF revenue distributions. Each order passed unanimously.

The commission ended the meeting after approving routine claims and adjourned to its next scheduled session.
