District honors student state and national champions, and celebrates school'level improvements

"He is a dedicated team captain that mentors the younger wrestlers," Coach Griffin said, praising the student's perseverance.
Mr. Miller, principal of Santan Foothills High School, announced that the school's cheer team won the national championship "the first national championship in the Florence Unified School District history," and played a highlight video for the board and audience.
Student body president Olivia Beam summarized Post (as transcribed) High School's pillars of athletics, academics and opportunities, citing athletic placements, band and fine-arts accomplishments, AP and CTE program participation, and student service activities. Assistant principal Dr. Berkeland presented data the school credits for achieving an A rating: an FUSD-approved StudySync English curriculum, test-prep work with Albert IO, dual-enrollment math offerings, stronger AP and CTE participation, and improved testing participation rates. Dr. Berkeland noted that growth measures are tracked from freshman to junior year and that bonus points came from high testing rates and above-average science outcomes.
The board then recognized employees and dozens of students by name across grade levels for employee and student-of-the-month awards; group photos were taken following the recognitions.
